    Overview:

     

     

    We are looking for a seasoned Executive to lead and develop Blackhawk Network’s procurement function on a global level. In this highly strategic and transactional role, you will be responsible for establishing a center-led, global procurement organization with common procurement policy, standardization of processes, governance, guidelines and to drive adoption across all lines of businesses. Your main objectives will be to drive strategy and centralization in the following areas; Direct spend, in direct spend and centralization of acquisitions on a global level. You will also be responsible for working closely with the Business and Functional leaders to drive annual savings of 2% to 3% on the 60-70% of sourceable spend, and upwards of 15% on categories that are new/ have not been professionally sourced prior.  This is a highly visible role where you will have a seat at the table, reporting directly to our COO.

     

    Responsibilities:

    In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

     

    • Minimize cost (automation and pricing) and maximize value (meet customer expectations) in the procurement process via strategic sourcing, cost benchmarking, negotiations, should-cost modelling, etc.
    • Develop negotiation strategies and participate in negotiations with vendors on price, delivery, terms, etc.
    • Identify and develop current & new suppliers – supplier qualification, supplier performance requirements, supplier performance (technical and commercial) evaluation and providing ideas for quality, cost and technical improvement; support resolution of supplier quality issues, when needed
    • Ensure appropriate audit trails are embedded in procurement processes, for internal audit and performance management purposes
    • Ensure compliance with policies and programs in alignment with sourcing strategy
    • Ensure the effective delivery of initiatives, programs and directives in accordance with sourcing strategy and financial business plans
    • Develop department budgets, drive data analysis and review, including budget/financial and performance metrics to support decisions related to programs, initiatives and directives
    • Interact cross-functionally with all other departments at Blackhawk and serve as an effective and value-added service for the entire organization
    • Drive functional excellence in procurement incl. use of standard sourcing processes, category management, engagement low cost country suppliers, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management
    • Develop the procurement strategy, and objectives for category sourcing, that supports broader corporate agenda, and ensure effective execution against agreed strategy
    • Recruit, motivate, develop and retain talent into function
    • Establish process to track procurement activity / monitor savings of procurement initiatives and conduct quarterly procurement reviews with business and functional leads. Your main objective will be to  ensure processes such as competitive bidding, cost benchmarking, vendor identification and comprehensive contracting discipline are instituted
    • Establish and run a robust supplier management process across the procurement lifecycle and actively address under-performance
    • Develop strategic governance and supplier management framework for managing key supplier relationships and escalations
    • Work with business to identify, assess, qualify, and develop new suppliers needed for new product and service introductions
    • Build out comprehensive procurement knowledge of the marketplace, benchmarks, and industry best practices for global categories

     

     

    Qualifications:

    Ideal candidate will have the following:

    • Prior Head of procurement responsibility, ideally with global presence, in a retail / supply chain context with significant technology component
    • Experience with high-value, high-volume purchasing and contract negotiation experience across a range of services and commodities
    • Experience with developing and implementing successful cost saving initiatives
    • 10+ years of experience in procurement, at least 3 of which is in an global, multi-category context
    • Significant experience managing a procurement team of [15+] people, with procurement responsibility over [$200m+] spend
    • Prior experience in (re-)building a procurement team (recruit, develop and retain), and establishing and driving first time adoption of procurement capabilities in a global organisation
    • Have a hands on mind-set and ability “to get things done
    • BA/BS Degree with MBA or Advanced Certifications

    Should have the following:

     

    • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams in driving continuous improvement with suppliers (e.g. through application of lean, statistical process control and similar techniques)
    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in achieving or exceeding challenging targets
    • Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions and prioritize based on Procurement and business/functional goals
    • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to select, manage, develop and coach others
    • Demonstrated influencing and communication skills to drive best practices
    • Flexible and responsive to change
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the organization
    • Experienced in sourcing, establishing and managing procurement relationships, both direct and indirect, with both off-shore and out-sourced service providers
    • Broad range of procurement experience spanning customer support, supply chain, card production, Information Technology (IT), Engineering (hardware, software and services) and business process out-sourcing
    • Track record of contributing to, and influencing a senior management team with ability to build trust and professional working relationships across a global organization
    • Experienced in establishing a data driven approach and mind set to functional excellence
    • Experience with high-value, high-volume purchasing and contract negotiation experience across a range of services and commodities
    • Experience with developing and implementing successful cost saving initiatives

     Nice to have:

     

      • Expertise in supply chain and track record of optimizing production, freight and fulfillment suppliers to reduce total cost of ownership
      • Experience in gift card production, fulfillment and prepaid inventory management
      • In-depth knowledge of technology sourcing, contracting and management of out-sourced and off-shore technology service provides – across both engineering, infrastructure and operations
