The Blackhawk Network Compliance and Risk Department seeks a full-time FRAML Risk Analyst. This position will be based in Pleasanton, CA. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally organized, resourceful and detail oriented, and will have primary responsibility for performing transaction and IVR monitoring, supporting investigations and law enforcement requests, and preparing fraud and AML management reports.


  • Maintains comprehensive job knowledge of data sources and data tables that enables data analysis to support investigations and help satisfy law enforcement inquiries.  
  • Monitors transactions, IVRs and system alerts for unusual and/or suspicious activities, conducting investigations and updating case management tracking reports as appropriate.
  • Prepares management reports on investigations and other case and transaction monitoring performance indicators.
  • Performs research and analysis of individuals, entities or events through public records, media or other research tools.
  • Works closely with International Sales and Product Development teams to help ensure appropriate risk mitigation to new products and services.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry best practices and fraud trends to optimize and refine controls used to detect fraudulent activity.
  • Assists with efforts to complete preparatory work or provide documentation prior to state money transmission, issuing bank and other third party examinations related to fraud and BSA/AML matters.
  • Participate in other departmental projects as assigned from time to time.


  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite: advanced Excel (Pivot tables, lookup and macro functions); working knowledge of Access, Visio and Word required.
  • Ability to use SQL or other query language to extract and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of third party systems (e.g., Lexis Nexis) used for business and customer reviews preferred.
  • Understanding of requirements of Anti-Money Laundering regulations, USA PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), OFAC and FinCEN rules as they relate to Money Services Businesses (MSBs) preferred.
  • Understanding of payment card products (Visa, Mastercard, etc) and related risk management processes strongly desired.
  • Ability to communicate very well in writing and in person.
  • Excellent judgment, the ability to take direction and work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with various business units that play key roles in fraud and AML risk management or in the development of supporting systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a drive to deliver outstanding results.
  • Desire to learn and explore new concepts.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. 1-2 years of work experience in a compliance, audit, or risk analyst type occupation will be considered.
