This position may be performed remotely anywhere within the United States except for the State of Alaska, North Dakota, or South Dakota. Employees located within 50 miles of a BHN office will be considered a "Hybrid" employee and are required to come into the office 2 days per week based on office schedule.

Overview:

We are seeking a Sr. Business Development Director who will be responsible for driving growth, creating strategies and building partnerships with existing clients and new client prospects in disbursements and payouts, especially around class action settlements, and other digital payout use cases (insurance, refunds, etc). In this leadership role, you will leverage your deep understanding of  class action claims payout space and other payout use cases to identify new revenue streams and business models. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, you will join a group that propels BHN into new verticals, fosters strategic alliances, and executes partnership deals that accelerate our commercial success.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Development & Partnerships

    • Develop & Execute Growth Strategy: Formulate a three-year plan to expand BHN’s reach in class action disbursements and related digital payout opportunities. Identify high-potential existing and new client growth opportunities that create new revenue streams and strengthen BHN’s portfolio.
    • Leverage Executive Relationships: Maintain and grow senior-level connections across claims administrators, digital payout providers, fintech providers, and digital commerce ecosystems to uncover client opportunities that extend BHN’s core businesses.
    • Position BHN in the Marketplace: Clearly communicate BHN’s value proposition, particularly in class action solutions, to senior leaders at target organizations. Champion BHN’s capabilities in emerging payments and digital disbursements.

Class Action Channel Ownership

    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Product, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance) to ensure business initiatives are effectively prioritized and supported.
    •  Channel & Partnership Roadmap: Drive growth by evaluating, validating, and launching partnerships relevant to large-scale legal settlements and digital disbursement needs.
    • High-Value Negotiations: Aggressively pursue and secure deals with key prospects, shaping contract terms that align with BHN’s strategic and financial objectives.

Revenue Generation & P&L Impact

    • End-to-End Accountability: Own the revenue targets, budget forecasting, and cost management for new business initiatives within the class action channel.
    • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Create compelling business cases that demonstrate ROI and align resources with the highest-return opportunities.
    • Reporting to Executive Management: Provide regular status updates to senior leadership on partnership milestones, revenue forecasts, and pipeline development.

Market Expansion & Ecosystem Influence

    • Industry Thought Leadership: Represent BHN at conferences and industry events, highlighting our expertise in class action payments and emerging digital commerce solutions.
    • Competitive Analysis: Monitor the broader digital payments and fintech landscape—particularly trends in large-scale disbursements—to anticipate opportunities or challenges.
    • Innovation Advocacy: Propose new product enhancements or service offerings that keep BHN ahead of regulatory shifts, consumer expectations, and evolving partner demands.

Leadership from Strategy to Execution

    • Lead & Mentor Teams: Work closely with business development managers, account executives, and cross-functional teams to transform high-level strategies into executable plans.
    • Influence & Collaboration: Break down functional silos, ensuring that Legal, Product, and Operations all collaborate to deliver seamless experiences for BHN’s partners.
    • High-Energy Communication: Serve as a compelling communicator and advocate for BHN’s strategy, both externally to potential partners and internally to cross-departmental stakeholders.

 

Qualifications:

Business Development Expertise

  • 10+ years of Channel Management & BD Experience: Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, negotiate, and close complex, multi-year deals in fintech, payments, digital commerce, or related fields.
  • Proven Track Record: History of structuring partnerships that yield measurable revenue growth and ROI, including success leading cross-functional deal teams.

Strategic & Financial Acumen

  • Visionary Mindset: Able to foresee industry shifts, especially in class action solutions and digital payments, and convert them into actionable growth strategies.
  • P&L Responsibility: Comfortable owning revenue targets and presenting financial projections to senior executives; can justify new investments based on market potential.

Relationship Building & Negotiation

  • Executive-Level Influence: Skilled at forging high-trust relationships with CMOs, CEOs, and other C-level stakeholders within large, matrixed organizations.
  • Complex Deal-Making: Adept at managing intricate negotiations, balancing multiple priorities, and aligning internal teams to achieve win-win outcomes.

Industry Knowledge & Adaptability

  • Class Action / Specialty Payments: Familiarity with the legal, financial, and operational nuances of class action disbursements or similarly regulated, high-value payment channels.
  • Emerging Payment Platforms: Understanding of fintech innovations (e.g., mobile wallets, digital payout solutions), leveraging them for strategic advantage.

 Leadership & Collaboration

  • Team-Oriented: Creates support and buy-in across a diverse range of stakeholders, fostering a culture of teamwork and shared success.
  • Matrix Environment: Able to navigate complex organizational structures, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and sustaining momentum in fast-paced settings.

 Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA desired.
  • Superb Communication: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both internal teams and external partners.
