This position may be performed remotely anywhere within the United States except for the State of Alaska, North Dakota, or South Dakota. Employees located within 50 miles of a BHN office will be considered a "Hybrid" employee and are required to come into the office 2 days per week based on office schedule.
Join the Data Science team at Blackhawk Network to help drive business value through advanced data analysis and machine learning model insights. This role focuses on 2 key features.
1. Building, maintaining, and extending technology systems that provide significant value to BHN's business, including both rule-based and machine learning-based fraud prevention systems, tools for understanding customer relationships, and advanced analytics tool suites.
2. Perform data-driven analysis on key strategic issues—from customer segmentation and competitive intelligence to real-time risk management tools. This role requires direct collaboration with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Product, and Executive teams to ensure our data systems and models are performing optimally and generating maximum classification and forecasting performance.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science, Physics, or another analytical degree required.
Experience: 1–2 years of experience working with data to address key business challenges in an engineering or quantitative role, ideally with a focus on rapid feedback cycle industries (e.g., payments, e-commerce, gaming).
Programming & Tools:
Strong programming skills, with proven proficiency in Python for data manipulation and analysis.
Demonstrated proficiency in either the Streamlit Python package or Power BI for visualization and dashboarding.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical background with expert ability to break down and clearly define complex business and technical problems.
ML Knowledge: Proficient in understanding and analyzing machine learning methodologies/statistical modeling (regression, classification, and unsupervised approaches).
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills—getting people excited about data and performance is a big plus!
Salary Range for all U.S. Residents (excluding Alaska, California, North Dakota, South Dakota): $78,220.00 to $101,700.00
Salary Range for California Residents Only: $101,140.00 to $131,500.00
