As the payments landscape evolves, we recognize the importance of innovating for new card experiences that leverage existing & new payment technology to create convenient, secure digital experiences that work seamlessly with wallets and merchant apps throughout the card lifecycle. We are seeking the right Director of Product focused on evolving the network touchpoints for seamless transitions between Physical & Digital for the future cardholder experience to lead our industry. This person will be able to support our partnership with many of the largest players in the payment landscape to ensure a secure and easy to use experience accepted by merchants, while ensuring BHN products not only meet but exceed the expectations of today's digitally savvy consumers.

This role will drive innovation, support strategic partnerships, and expand our footprint in the mobile and digital wallet space.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development: Drive our vision and roadmap for BHN's secure network & integrations to support physical-to-digital closed and open loop card technology, emphasizing innovation from concept (zero-to-one) to execution.
  • Mobile and Digital Wallet Usability: Leverage existing contacts and where necessary support new relationships with key players at major wallet/payment platforms to enhance our mobile offerings, extend network reach, and make stored value more convenient.
  • Payment Network & Business Models: Develop and implement strategies for working with partners and brands across the existing payment landscape (POS, Terminal, Acquiring, Switch, & Authorizers) for seamless experiences, focusing on pricing strategies and maximizing mutual value to drive adoption and reach.
  • Secure Chip & Tokenization Expansion: Lead innovation, partnerships & create network coalitions to evolve physical card sale, security & usage in conjunction with digital experiences and usability.
  • Experimentation and Innovation: Employ advanced experimentation techniques to test value propositions, technology and hypotheses, ensuring that our products resonate with target audiences.
  • Consumer Product Expertise: Utilize deep knowledge of consumer financial and wallet products to inform product development and enhancement initiatives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, marketing, design, and business contacts to drive cohesive workstreams toward achieving business and product outcomes.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor industry trends, including competitive analyses, and identify opportunities for differentiation and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive Experience in Financial Products: Proven track record in developing and/or managing financial card or wallet products, or enabling financial transaction networks through EMV, Terminal/POS, and/or acquiring/gateways with a deep understanding of user needs and market trends. Knowledge on regulatory & compliance considerations (PCI, AML, etc.) & Tokenization/Security standards (EMVCo, etc.)
  • Digital Expertise: Demonstrable knowledge in digital financial product experiences, particularly with stored value redemption/checkout, integration into platforms like Apple Wallet and Google Pay, including established contacts within these ecosystems.
  • Strategic Partnership Skills: Ability to work within network business models, collaborating with partners and brands to create mutually beneficial strategies and pricing models.
  • Product Development: Demonstrated experience in building and evolving product concepts, driving measurable outcomes and product metrics, and collaboration to bring products to market.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Ability to work with internal partners across various functions, demonstrating strong influencing skills to align teams and drive initiatives.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to anticipate market shifts and adapt strategies accordingly, ensuring BHN remains at the forefront of the industry through entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal ability to articulate vision and strategy to various stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Benefits:

Salary Range for California Residents Only: $184,060.00 to $248,500.00

Salary Range for Illinois Residents Only: $146,290.00 to $197,500.00

 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Blackhawk Network offers benefits including 401k with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays in the year 2025, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.
