Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Staff Engineer to join our growing e-commerce team. This role leads the front-end development of a high-traffic, multi-region digital gift card platform, requiring both strategic vision and hands-on expertise to drive innovation, scalability, and performance across our customer-focused digital experiences. The ideal candidate is a frontend expert with deep experience in React, headless CMS architecture, site performance optimization, and SEO best practices. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, driving best practices, and delivering scalable, performant, and accessible user experiences across web platforms. Site performance, Core Web Vitals, privacy, accessibility, and SEO are top priorities. You will be the technical driver ensuring all KPIs are not just met, but exceeded.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement complex technical solutions while providing strategic technical guidance to cross-functional teams
  • Lead the design and development of responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and establish best practices for front-end development across the organization
  • Maintain high standards of code quality, performance optimization, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in front-end engineering, including hands-on leadership roles
  • Expert-level proficiency in React, JavaScript, and modern front-end development practices
  • Proven experience with headless CMS architectures, performance optimization, and SEO implementation
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering scalable solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with experience mentoring development teams

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Industry certifications related to front-end development, performance optimization, or e-commerce platforms
  • Experience with multi-region, high-traffic e-commerce applications and payment systems

Benefits:

Salary Range for California Residents Only: $157,030.00 to $212,000.00

Salary Range for Illinois Residents Only: $125,100.00 to $168,900.00

 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Blackhawk Network offers benefits including 401k with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays in the year 2025, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.
