The MFT Application Support Administrator position is responsible for the design and implementation of all enterprise file transfer connections and scheduling setups.  File delivery responsibilities include the design, setup, and maintenance of all internal system and external partner file delivery connections.  Enterprise scheduling responsibilities include job setup, configuration, testing, and promotion to NOC team for monitoring.


This role is also responsible for managing the platform maintenance and stability (e.g., system upgrades, maintenance windows, outages), testing and analyzing problems as a Level 3 Support resource, and acting as the primary stakeholder in the overall end-to-end technology solution for each application.   



Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to interpret, verify, and understand customer’s or internal (IT or business) requestor's requirements related to file transmission and job scheduling requirements.
  • Clearly and concisely present BHN file transfer solutions to both internal stakeholders and new and existing clients
  • Partner with various BHN IT teams (i.e. Infrastructure Engineering, Architecture, Application Engineering) to ensure sound and agreed upon solutions are delivered to clients
  • Install / Configure / Administer managed file transfer requests for internal and external clients.
  • Verify source and target systems can access one another (over approved protocols) and ensure network path, server path, or permissions issues are resolved for initial setup and post implementation changes. This includes but is not limited to file naming convention changes, file delivery and job schedules, whitelisting source IP's to allow restricted access.
  • Troubleshoot file transfer issues with partners, looking at different protocols used (SFTP (ssh), FTPS (ssl), HTTPS, and AS2) and their unique challenges, certificate issues, as well as potential network issues like FW rules.
  • Adding, removing, or updating user account information and resetting of passwords on an as requested basis.
  • Ensure maintenance routines are running on a regular basis and that server-based routines are running successfully as scheduled. Query database and check server logs for data consistency as required.
  • Participation in Infrastructure development brainstorming sessions which impact or leverage MFT Application experience.
  • Maintain platforms including but not limited to managing vendor relationship, enforcement of application / solution best practices, sustain solution repository.
  • Provide on call Level 3 support.
  • Provide training and mentoring to new and intermediate users.
  • Ensuring that applicable regulatory directives are complied with e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, current privacy legislation, and PCI.









  • Required Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Management or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
    • 2+ years of experience in a technical role administrating / supporting a managed file transfer or equivalent system.
    • 2+ years’ experience with Linux systems administration.
    • Experience with File Transfer Protocols and Encryption Solutions – i.e., SFTP, FTPS, PGP, AS2
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to present information, status, and issues in English in a clear and concise manner.
    • Excellent strengths in time management and organization skills with an aptitude toward creative problem solving.
    • Strong initiative and flexible to change and understand the impact on the organization and business.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively within a matrix, 'virtual' environment.
    • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast changing environment.
    • A strong technical services orientation and mindset – focused on identifying and surpassing client needs and expectations.



    Desired Skill:

    • 2+ project management, software development methods and tools, software systems and data management, system infrastructure and operations, and technical support.
    • Experience with enterprise level file transfer software or equivalent application experience
    • Experience with windows/linux scripting and/or sql queries.
    • Information Technology and Business consulting experience
    • Strong understanding of emerging business solutions, technologies, and delivery methodologies
    • Ability to negotiate with and manage external vendors.
    • Retail and/or payment processing industry experience
