Overview:

The Systems Engineer position within the Implementation and Onboarding team is responsible for specification consultation, configuration, and testing of Blackhawk Network payment processing services for internal customers and external Blackhawk Network partners. This includes but not limited to: interaction with internal and external clients to support specification integration, troubleshooting and resolving integration issues, and working directly with other integration engineers, systems engineers, project / implementation managers, and QA engineers as required by the project requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Interface directly with new and existing Blackhawk Network clients on integration requirements and testing activities.

• Maintain current knowledge of Blackhawk Network API’s and payment services (ISO8583 anchored ISO Transaction Processor and API’s).

• Assist Blackhawk Network clients through their requirements and development project phases by providing the following:
• Specification consultation of Blackhawk Network API’s.
• Sample client integrations using simulators/tools to demonstrate functionality.
• In-depth technical information exchange (sample code, log snippets, specifications) to assist with development and troubleshooting activities.
• Guidance on best practices to ensure clients implement Blackhawk’s payment solutions using optimal integration strategies and techniques to promote a high degree of quality.
• Work with/in Linux environments to perform application and client specific configuration updates, perform testing with clients, and capture logs and test results.
• Work with client technical teams to perform end to end testing and system integration (Unit) to ensure a smooth handoff to the Blackhawk Network certification testing team.
• Work with the lead to manage conflicting requests from customers and ensure a high level of support.
• Leverage SQL skills to perform Ad Hoc reporting requests to support requests from various implementation teams, business related inquires, and other related activities.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual and repeatable tasks and build automated test suites.
• Work with local and remote teams where you may be asked to give presentations on integration expectations.
• Interface with engineering and advocate for platform enhancements that increase the usability, stability, and speed, with which new clients can integrate.

Required Skills:

• 1-year experience with at least one of the following technologies: Web Services, REST, SOAP, HTTP and FTP/SFTP.
• Experience with executing SQL queries (MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, DB2, etc.).

• Experience working in Linux or other Unix like environments.

• Exposure to two or more major programming languages (Java, Python, Shell Script, etc.).

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to present technical information, status, and issues in English and in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical parties.

• Ability to interact and dynamically adapt communication styles with various levels of client organizations including management, finance and operations, technical/IT staff, and line personnel.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Sense of project ownership, self-motivation and self-starter.

• Good time management and organization skills with an aptitude toward creative problem solving.

• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast changing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
  
  

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Payments (Credit Card, Banking, Online, Offline), especially with Point of Sale systems, payments gateways and payment processors.
• Experience with system discovery process, requirements gathering, systems architecture, and development.

• Experience with ISO8583 message format and testing

• Experience with XML parsers like DOM or SAX, XML Schemas (XSD) and Web Servers like JBOSS, APACHE

• Experienced with automated API testing tools e.g. SOAP UI and other automated scripting tools
